Not Ashamed of the Gospel

What a holy, awe-inspiring name He has! (NLT) ~ Psalm 111:9
In our secularized and politically correct culture, worldly wisdom tells people that all religions are just different paths to the same God. Do not allow the world to make you timid or weaken your testimony for our risen Lord.

At worst, in the free nations of the world, you may be ridiculed and criticized, but that is a small price to pay. Never be ashamed of our Lord Jesus, who died for us.

It is an emphatic and repeated message of God's Word that "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

And Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, nobody comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

The Cutting-Edge

Reaching forward to those things which are ahead. (NKJV) ~ Philippians 3:13
Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love ... live. Chained by his attitude, he is a slave; he has forfeited freedom.

What a privilege for us to be able to walk by faith in God, armed with all the promises of His Word. I suppose we all desire the security of the solid tree trunk, but the fruit is out on the limb.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The timid soul asks, "What do I stand to lose if I do it?" The fruit-bearing Christians asks, "What do I stand to lose if I don't do it?" Real life is lived on the cutting-edge.

This is from the New Every Morning Pocket Devotions by Nico Bougas, 2006.

This particular post is to encourage all my brothers and sisters in Christ all around the globe during what would appear to be 'uncertain' times. Remember our God is still on the Throne, commanding all things for His Glory. We are more than conquerors -- And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28

Please, I ask that you also kindly keep me and my family in prayer -- a director has told me I could face being laid-off. You know, God is in control. Look at the story of Joseph. His brothers had sold him into slavery meaning it for evil, but God worked it all for good. Hear what Joseph says to his brothers after revealing himself to them in Genesis 45:5 - Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

I know God is getting my attention...

Earning the Right to Criticize

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: ~ Ephesians 4:31

Dwight L. Moody, the famous evangelist, was once told by an irate church woman, "Mr. Moody, I don't like the way you do your evangelism."

In reply, Mr. Moody said, "I don't necessarily like all of it either, but it's the best way I know how. Tell me, how do you do it?"

"Oh, I don't," was the reply.

"Well," said Moody, "I like the way I'm doing it better than the way you're not doing it."

It's always easy to know what to do when we don't have to do the job, and very easy to criticize others when we're not doing the work ourselves.

A Christmas Message, The Law and The Gospel of Grace

This past Saturday we had four brothers out at our normal fishing spot -- handing out Gospel tracts, engaging persons in 1-on-1 witnessing and a translated open air preach in English / Zulu. It was great to have Phillip out there to do the isiZulu translation. I shared with him that we could use the way people celebrate Christmas as our springboard and that I would read a portion of the script titled Christmas: A Biblical Perspective (The full reading can be read at this link) and then we could make the transition to what people actually believe what will happen to them the day they die and stand before God. This is the portion we spoke to the people, [substituting "America" with "South Africa"]:

Christmas in South Africa today is celebrated basically in four ways:

1. Celebration of the coming of Santa Claus

2. Celebration of the coming of Christ and the coming of Santa Claus

3. Celebration of a secular nature (no Christ, no Santa Claus)

4. Celebration of Christ's birth

How about those who celebrate the coming of Santa Claus? Santa Claus: "He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake." These words describe a god (only a god could do such things worldwide). Santa Claus is a false god (an idol, 1 John 5:21). Even though it's all "make-believe", it still is evil. He looks good and clean. 2 Corinthians 11:14 warns us of the schemes of the Devil and his crafty ways. Satan transforms himself into an angel of light. The whole Santa Claus concept is evil to the core (a false god), yet sugar coated to deceive the unsuspecting.

How about those who celebrate the coming of Christ and the coming of Santa Claus? In our culture, it is not unlikely to see a nativity scene along with Santa Claus and his reindeer (some even have Santa Claus in the nativity scene). Is such a thing pleasing in the sight of God, mixing a false god with Christ? No way (e.g. Zephaniah 1:4-5-)!

How about those who celebrate Xmas secularly (no Christ, no Santa Claus)? These folks usually just have a feast, Christmas tree, exchange gifts, etc.. Have you ever pondered the "ghost of Christmas past" in the story of Ebenezer Scrooge? In this story there is no Santa Claus. This "ghost of Christmas past" teaches Mr. Scrooge to "keep Christmas in his heart." (p. 43 in Christmas, by Jane Duden). From a Biblical perspective, it's the demon of Christmas past. Knowing the whole world lies in the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19), this is an interesting well-known and common tale. The story may be fictional, but there is an agenda nevertheless (1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:9).

It's a false christ.

The world (overall) adores (loves, worships) the Christ of Christmas. The world abhors (hates, rejects) the true Christ (John 1:11; 7:7). Mormons have their Christ. Jehovah Witnesses have their Christ. Unitarians have their Christ. Catholics have their Christ. Christmas has its Christ (which is basically a Catholic Christ).

Phillip and I preaching in English / Zulu. The small group in front of us had just been witnessed to by Dylan and Qin and came over to listen to the Law and the Gospel of Grace again!!

Qin and Dylan -- Dylan attends Maritzburg College and will be in Matric in 2009. During the 3rd Term this year Dylan was instrumental in inviting me to conduct 'The Way of the Master Basic Training Course' after hours on the school premises and sixteen teenage scholars completed the course!!

We preached the Law and the Gospel of Grace and once we had finished we were encouraged by an elderly African lady named Zanele Dlamini (no picture available) who spoke to Phillip in Zulu -- and this time he translated for me -- as she encouraged us that the message is not only for the ears, but it 'pricked' her heart. She said that the preaching was not for entertaining or motivating purposes which they are accustomed to, but it is for true convicting of the heart. Ms Dlamini also told us that we must come to Parliament (the local legislature) when it re-opens in January 2009 as they have Monday prayer sessions. Kindly keep us in prayer for God to open this door that we can evangelise the corridors of local government. And bless Ms Dlamini and keep her in prayer that she will remain steadfast in her Christian faith within local government.

It was as always a wonderful morning's fishing the streets, sowing good seed for lost souls. Thank You, Lord Jesus!!

Don't Drink The Kool-Aid

This is a follow-up on The Church of Oprah Exposed.

DVD Volume 1 - 10 Minute Trailer

Our Eyes Are Open To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18

The Church of Oprah Exposed

Christian, beware what you and your child are watching on television.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.~ Galatians 1:6-10

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ~ John 14:6

No Stones, Just Persecuted With Crumpled Paper

Saturday had been a day prepared for my family to attend a home Church in an informal settlement in Hopewell, KwaZulu-Natal. We were to meet Greg and his family and drive out to Hopewell to a mission run by Austrian nationals who had sold up all in their European homeland to come and settle in their new missionary home where they now do the Lord’s work in that community.

I received an unexpected call on my cellular from a brother named George asking if I would be going out as normal to my local fishing spot that morning. I was somewhat surprised as I normally do the calling and often the persons I call cannot accompany me for some reason or another. This morning it was different -- I explained to George that I would not be going out as we were invited to attend a home Church this Saturday morning at 10h15. The time was 07h34 and for reasons unbeknown to me at the time I changed my mind and told George I would love to be out there with him and would meet him just after 08h00 at the spot opposite the City Hall. I hurriedly got ready and made the short journey into the CBD. To pass time I handed out tracts at a pedestrian crossing while I waited for George’s arrival. During this time I engaged an Islamic man named Sameel (pronounced Sha-meel) who understood what was revealed to him through the proclamation of the Law and the Gospel of Grace. I took down his mobile number as he had to rush off to work -- which was also about the time when George arrived -- and Sameel said he would like to continue our dialogue another time. Please pray for Sameel that he will come to repentance and the Lord Jesus will cause him to convert to Christianity. [I will record this conversation at another time should we meet for our follow up.]

At this time I greeted George and we made our way through the flea-market to the corner we normally fish. George is a brother who truly loves the Lord and has been out with us previously when we have open-aired. He enjoys handing out tracts and engaging the lost. It is for this reason I am thankful for George’s obedience to God our Father for contacting me on Saturday morning. You see, George did not have my mobile phone number until he had phoned Mark, who in turn referred him to me and gave him my number. We spoke a while and handed out the odd tract to passer-bys and then – the reason for our meeting materialized.

With secular music, pomp and even drum majorettes leading the procession, a church for all people named Deo Gloria Family Church came by with gay men and lesbians – some dressed in fairy wings, glitter and furry scarves, etc. This was a mockery of what God stands for. I ventured to the island in the middle of the dual roadway in front of the City Hall and started proclaiming the Law. The crowd and their senior pastor reverent Deborah Bell started shouting down the Gospel of Jesus Christ being proclaimed. There was no fear and to explain it I was under the Holy Spirit’s control. I had irate members of this church, gay men and lesbians and a self-righteous pastor tell me that I should move on and leave them alone. I proclaimed that I do not hate gay men and lesbians, but I am here to warn them of the wrath to come and that they are to repent and believe the gospel. The more I proclaimed the Law and took them through the Holy Standards of God I was shouted down. I had a gay man stand “in my face” (I was not elevated, besides standing on the island separating the traffic lanes) who threatened to smack me, which I told him he is welcome to do so, but his pastor called him away. Deborah then took up the place of challenging me on how long I have been doing this and that I am misguided and that she was a pastor of 15 years. Proverbs 20:6 says – Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? While I preached for all to hear there wasn’t time to record all that was going on around me. [I pray for a faithful servant who will join me to record the happenings that take place in future.]

"God loves you just as you are" -- Can anyone help me with the Scripture that says this! God is also not a "Heavenly Parent" -- HE reveals Himself in Scripture as our Father.

Whilst I continued in the strength of our Lord Jesus (Philippians 4:13) I had placard waving persons shouting me down, threatening me and disrespecting the proclamation of the Law and the call to them to repent. I took the Sword out and I was told by 'pastor' Bell that I mustn’t refer to 1 Corinthians 6:9,10. She had other Scriptures that she could refer me to. She asked for my Bible, but I wasn’t going to readily relinquish my Sword. I was also told by her that I was misguided and I should leave.

While all this was taking place, I had a male person tapping me gently on my head with a similar banner you see in the photograph (above) -- more attempting to distract me from proclaiming the Truth. I thank God that retaliation never once came to mind as I beseeched them to repent. For today they would only be getting the Law. 1 Corinthians 1:18 says – For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God.

The procession then moved off and I continued proclaiming the Law calling them to repent before a Just and Holy God. When a flatbed vehicle went past I had two gay persons throw crumpled paper at me -- one 'struck' me on the head; it could have been their false tracts -- and they angrily “showed me the finger” -- this is because the Law was doing its work (Romans 2:15). I do wonder if 'pastor' Bell saw the “love” expressed by her gay congregation to a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. While the procession departed it allowed me to continue proclaiming the Law to a crowd that had now gathered to see the commotion. I also recited that Jesus said that they will hate me for they hated Him first -- John 15:18 reads: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

After the procession had rounded the corner I was consoled and encouraged by faithful George, a sister named Michelle and another Indian brother (both from the flea-market) where I read to them Romans 1:18-32 which sets out reasons why the gay parade reacted the way they did. George and I prayed that all who received our tracts and heard the proclamation of the Law and the Gospel of Grace will repent of their evil and wicked sin and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that God the Father will cause them to be born again (John 3:3,7).

I thank our God in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ for the obedience of George, Mark and I – if I had not answered the call the opportunity would have been lost. God knows what is best. We take things for granted, but God knows when and where we are to be for His Glory. I humbly submit and believe the gay parade was where God wanted me.

It was a wonderful morning’s fishing as always.

After checking their website at www.deogloriakzn.co.za under their vision it says: This is the prophetic word given to Pastor Deborah in 1998 for Deo Gloria Family Church.

Homosexuality is not a sin, not a sickness.

In response to this I quote 2 Timothy 4:3,4 -- For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Christian, wake up. Be faithful and proclaim the Law and the Gospel of Grace. As can be seen from these two videos below it is going to get a whole lot worse as the day of our Lord's second coming draws ever near.

WARNING! This video below contains foul language.
