Fire in Pietermaritzburg CBD

* NEWSFLASH* A fire broke out in the 'Old Court' at about 12H30 (local South African time) today (12th instant)in Church Street near the City Hall. This building was under repair - being renovated. The cause of the fire is unknown and any foul-play / arson needs to be ascertained.

The photograph was taken from the Natalia Building.

My wife alerted me to this fire and I asked if her friend Mandy could take a photograph and send it to me. This is the product.

This building is also in the area where we normally hand out gospel tracts and open-air preach. At this time we do not know if there are any casualties or injured persons. Please pray for God's Grace in this situation. We also pray that our Lord Jesus will use this event to be Glorified through the proclamation of His Law and His Gospel of Grace.

I also pray that persons who were faced with a near death experience will consider why they have been given 'another chance' to repent before God and to believe the Gospel. It is because God is Merciful and Good and Kind.

UPDATE ~ FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ

Here is the proposed schedule of the evangelism outreach for the Confederations Cup that starts in nine days time, Lord willing. We will be at the event from June 16 to 25 and we request that you will kindly keep us in prayer during the duration of our stay and also the time that we are travelling to and from the event. We are praying for God to be exalted and worshipped and many, many souls to be caused by Him to repent and believe the gospel.

People need Jesus and there is no other way to salvation and eternal life. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). The Word also says: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).

We also thank Michael Rogers of Living Waters Africa for opening his home to Bill Adams, Thomas, Willem and myself for the duration of our stay. Also thanks to our sister Elizabeth Eager (Ambassadors Academy #1) for her help. May God Bless your faithfullness in being available for His Glory.

All other biblical evangelists please do get in touch with us. My contact number during the outreach is 072 221 1233.

Soli Deo Gloria (To God alone the glory).

Open-Air Preaching

You that preach Christ in the streets, go on preaching Him. I saw a man preaching the other day with no creature but one dog to listen to him, and I really thought that he might as well have gone home. But I met with a story yesterday, which I know to be true, and it showed me that I was making a mistake. There was a woman who for years had been in such dreadful despair that she would not even hear the gospel. She came to be very ill, and she said to one that called upon her, "You sent a man to preach under my window three months ago, and I got a blessing." "No," the friend said, "I never sent anybody to preach under your window." "Oh," she said, "I think you did, for he came and preached, and my maid said that there was nobody listening to him. I did not want to hear him; and as he made so much noise, my maid shut the window, and I lay down in bed; but the man shouted so that I was obliged to hear him; and I thank God I did, for I heard the gospel, and I found Christ. Did you not send him?" "No," said the good man, "I did not." "Well," she said, "then God did. There was nobody in the street listening to him; but I heard the gospel, and I got out of my despair, and I found the Savior, and I am prepared to die." Fire away brethren! You do not know where your shot will strike, but "there's a billet for every bullet." ~ Charles H. Spurgeon

One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven ~ Mark Cahill

One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven

Recently our Lord Jesus has been leading me to read some solid spiritual food. I have finished reading "The Gospel According to Jesus" by John F. MacArthur and will be finished shortly with the book by Mark Cahill titled "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven". These are two of the most amazing books that will have you reading and wanting more and more. Outside of the Bible, they are two best sellers that every Christian should make a point of reading. You won't want to put either down for too long.

From the Introduction (page 11), I quote:

"Three-hundred-million years from now, what will be the only thing that will matter? Will it matter how much money you made? Will it matter what kind of car you drove? Will it matter who won the NCAA football and basketball titles this year? Will it matter who you took to the homecoming dance?

"Three-hundred-million years from now, the only thing that will matter is who is in heaven and who is in hell. And if that is the only thing that will matter then, that should be one of our greatest concerns now. Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:11, "The Son of Man has come to save that which was lost." If it is of the utmost importance for Jesus to reach the lost, shouldn't it be a major priority for you? The real question then is: What are you doing of significance today that will matter three-hundred-million-plus years from now?

"Second Corinthians 5:10 assures us that "we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." Do you really believe, as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, that there will be a day on which you will stand before His throne? We will each go one-to-one with the God of this universe. Can you imagine that? Do you think it will matter on that day whether you boldly shared your faith with unbelievers, whether you told a very lost and dying world about Jesus - the only answer for a soul? Yes, it will. It will matter whether you shared the most precious thing you have with everyone you could." ~ Mark Cahill
